A NEW ROUTE - TO BY PASS FT.WORTH/DALLAS

For the last number of years, we have put up with horrendous construction hold-ups through Ft.Worth/Dallas and Waco.  Both coming and going.  Last fall I said "That's it, we have to find a better way."

So we started our first days travel, by heading north on 281, through the hill country.  This took us north of Dallas/Ft.Worth before we switch back to our normal I-35 N route home.  This hill country is an area I have only see a little of, but what I have seen I really liked.

It did get us past all that construction and was a really nice days drive, although a little long, in and out of a lot of little towns.  I don't know that we would use this route again.

Tonight we are relaxing in Council Bluffs, Iowa having driven through all of Oklahoma and Kansas today.  We could make it home tomorrow, but then we would arrive late and we need to get groceries in etc. So we will stay over in Fargo and and be home in the am on Friday, and that gives us time to get unpacked, get in groceries etc, before the stores close.

THAT'S THE PLAN ANYWAYS

PREPARING TO LEAVE

It's been a busy two days of doing laundry, packing, cleaning and getting ready to leave.

There is not only the packing of what we are taking home with us, but we also have to pack away all our Patio furniture.  Then pile in all my artificial plants on top of everything.

We have to "summerize our trailer".  Plumbing wize with chemicals.  And put foil insulation on all our windows, so that hopefully our trailer wont get to much sun and heat damage.

I also need to spray any weeds around the property so that they don't get too out of control over the summer.

MAKING LISTS AND CHECKING THEM TWICE

It's all done now, so we are out of here in the morning.

THE ORANGE BLOSSOMS ARE NOW MINI FRUIT

On March 9th I did a post about the orange blossoms outside my dinette window.

Now every  place where there was an Orange Blossom, there is now a mini fruit.

Right now they are all about the size of peas, but when we come back in the fall they will be plump sweet oranges.

AND THAT'S WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TEXAS

SHARED MEMORIES OF BILL

A FOND FAREWELL TO BILL KORBER.  This night was originally planned as a 65th Wedding Anniversary for Doris & Bill.  The invitations were all sent out, the party was planned and booked.  But, Bill couldn’t make it.  So we all celebrated it for him.

Doris had her Son and Daughter in-law with her.

It was a lovely evening of good food and fellowship.

There was also some really great music and shared memories of Bill.

IT WAS A GREAT EVENING AND THE CLOSE OF OUR WINTER SEASON.
