ON THE ROAD AGAIN

We woke up to more darn rain again today.  I am so sick of the constant rain.  Well, the chores we had, to close up the house, went very well and we were on the road into Winnipeg, by 10:00 am.  We picked up our dry ice, hit the Credit Union and the Bank and were on Highway 75 heading south by 12:00 noon.  But of course it was still raining.

We were at the border by 1:00 pm got through there in 2 minutes flat.

Then as we were approaching Grand Forks, the clouds started to lift.  That sun was a very welcome sight.  I am so sick of all the rain we have been having this past month.

By the time we were approaching Fargo we were under bright warm sunny skies.  It certainly was making me think of Texas.

We have settled in, in Fargo for the night.

WE SHOULD MAKE KANSAS BY TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE PLANNING AND PACKING CONTINUES

The truck is slowly getting packed.

Every year I take pre-cooked breakfast sausages with me to Texas.  I find all the ones that they sell in Texas are far too spicy for my Anglo palette.  So I fry these up, then freeze them in small one meal packages.

They are done and ready to go, we just have to stop on our way through Winnipeg and top up the cooler with dry ice to keep them frozen all the way to McAllen.

The many bins are slowly getting filled, with cloths, etc.
I am trying, as best I can, to plan out meals down to the day we leave.  The final clean out of the fridge and cupboards will happen on Sunday, then we should be ready to
roll.

On Monday morning Dan plans to drain the water system on the beach house and put RV anti-freeze where needed.  Then we will stop for dry ice and American $$ as we go through Winnipeg, and we will be on our way.

TEXAS HERE WE COME

JUST OVER ONE WEEK TILL WE "GO"

We are finally down to making lists and packing.

So I have bins around the house, so that I can put things in them as I think of them.  We are making list of what we have to take, besides $$  I'm busy readying my computer and GPS with the latest updates.

There are things in the house that I don't want to freeze, so we will put those things on the boat in the heated hangar.  As we are turning the services off in the beach house when we leave.

Then there are the things that you don't need very often, but must have on hand, like the first aid kit.  I also have a sewing kit and a craft kit that I haul back and forth every year, plus Dan has tools that he hauls back and forth.  We wouldn't want to have to have duplicates of all of this stuff.

So it's a busy, scratching head, list making kinda time.

NO MATTER WHAT, I'M SURE WE WILL FORGET SOMETHING.

(We always do.  lol )

OUR THOUGHTS ARE TURNING TO TEXAS

As the weather gets cooler here in the Manitoba Interlake, our thoughts are turning to the warm weather that is awaiting us in Paradise Park of McAllen, Texas.

It will be a few weeks before we leave, but we are starting to make lists of things to remember, things to pack, things we have to do here before we leave, etc. etc. etc.

We have a lot to see to here, that we have never done before.  The condo was easy.  Lock the door and walk away.  Now we have to secure the house.

OH WELL, I'M SURE WE'LL FIGURE IT OUT

SEA-ENNA'S NEW BED

Ever since we moved into the house at the beach, Sea-Enna has taken to sleeping the evenings away on this cold hard floor, between Dan and I as we sit and watch TV.

I thought that's kind of bare and hard and there might be a draft from the door, so I went a bought her a brand new soft and fluffy Doggie Bed.

I thought "This will be nice and comfy for her".

Guess where she is spending her time now?

OH WELL, WIN SOME, LOOSE SOME

THE START OF MY NEW KITCHEN

This weekend we went and picked up the new fridge for my eventual kitchen.  No company wants too deliver out here unless they charge you and arm and a leg.

Gord Gowie loaned us his trailer to get it here and then came over to help Dan get it into the house.  It was so big they had to take the doors off to get it inside, but with a lot of work they got it done

I have been looking for a stove as well, because I would like to have them in here so I can decide where everything will go.

Once I have these in place I can decide on their position, then decide where the cupboards will be filled in around these main pieces.

IT'S A START ANYWAY

WE ARE STILL MOVING THINGS AROUND

Every day we find something that is totally out of place.

You realize that, "this" worked next to "that" at the last place, but it sure doesn't work well here.  So now you have to find a place for it where it will function better.

I don't even have a wall between my bedroom and my office space.  I'm still trying to decide exactly where that wall should go.

We are also trying to empty out what will eventually be my kitchen and make it into a project work space.  I had some of my dining room furniture in there and I'm afraid it will get damaged during this process.  So for now all my dining room furniture, china, silver and glass ware is going out on the front porch until I have a dining room again.

And that won't happen until the bathroom and kitchen are finished.  Then we will get around to creating a dining room and deck.  And at that point I will have to get around to re-covering my dining room chairs.  After all I've only had the new fabric for about 5 years!   |But without a work area in the condo it was too easy to keep putting it off.

THAT'S THE PLAN ANYWAYS

A PICTURE OF US CRUISING

It is always nice when someone snaps a picture of your boat when you're out cruising and supplies it to you.

You can never get a picture of your own boat out on the water yourself.  The odd time you might pull in close to shore somewhere and get a shot of your boat in the water, but it's not quite the same as having an action shot of you boat in motion.

We all like to have pictures of our boats under power out on the water and for that you have to rely on your friends.

TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR FRIENDS BOATS AND GIVE IT TO THEM

(They'll appreciate it.)
