FINAL WORK WEEKEND

Well this was our last work weekend. Our launch is booked for Tuesday June 2nd   Dan worked all weekend, and hopefully got everything accomplished.

He set up our ropes and bumpers for launch, so that's all set.  Then we went to the marine and set up our dock for our arrival, then headed home.

We will go back out with all the last minute stuff, bright and early Tuesday morning for our launch.

Our Sea-Enna will be so happy to see her summer home, for the first time this year.

I TOO, WILL BE GLAD WHEN THUNDERBIRD IS LAUNCHED AND WE ARE LIVING ON BOARD AGAIN

FAMILY DINNER

Tonight we had a lovely evening with our oldest son Jim and his family.

We don't get a chance to spend much time together with us down in Texas for half the year, then out at the lake for a lot of the summer.  So we got together for dinner, before we launch on Tuesday.

It was nice to have an evening together and I was shocked when each of my grandsons walked in.  Our Matthew who was so proud, 3 years ago, at his 16th birthday that he was finally a bit taller than his older brother Alex.  He is now towering over us all.  And Alex is towering over me as well.

But then they are grown men now, not my young grandsons.  I hope they will all get a chance to come out for a visit to the boat this summer.

HOPEFULLY, WE'LL SEE YOU IN AUGUST

OUR LAUNCH DATE IS SET

We have picked our launch date,  and we have just booked it with Barb.  We are going to "Splash" on June 2nd.  We prefer to launch during the week with less hassle, than with all the hectic activity around Gimli harbour on the weekend.

I hope all our chores get completed as planned by that date.  It's looking like we are on track, but you never know when something will crop up.

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON

ANOTHER WORK WEEKEND UNDER OUR BELTS

We dropped Sea-Enna off at Tracy Elizabeth's, and got out to the hangar late on Friday.  Too late to get any work done, but we got settled in and got unpacked, ready to start to work on Saturday morning.
I was very pleased with the job Ken did on the hull, as I hadn't seen it since it was done.  The red colour is not as bright as I would like, but at least it's reddish.

It was a very productive weekend.  Dan got a lot accomplished.  Gouging, sanding, epoying, all around general maintenance for an old boat.

He even got some finish painting done on the swim platform.  Next weekend all the repairs he did this weekend should be ready for finish paint. Next weekend will be our final work weekend and we will launch the following week.

SO WE ARE DOWN TO THE SHORT LIST.

LET'S GET BACK AT IT - WEEKEND 3

Nothing got accomplished last weekend, so we are now going to be playing catch up.

Dan has some scraping, sanding and painting to do on the bow.  These are all chores that are time consuming.

We are also hoping to decide on, and book our launch while out at the hangar this weekend.

WE WILL SEE WHAT WE GET ACCOMPLISHED

THIS WEEKEND WAS DIFFERENT THAN WE THOUGHT

We stayed in town for our daughter Wendy's birthday this Saturday.

We had a wonderful time at a Private Party at a Chinese Buffet.

But our plans to go out and work on the boat on Sunday and Monday, were scuttled as we were informed that the hangar is closed on Mondays. We feel that there is no sense driving all the way out there and getting all set up to work, for just a few hours, then putting everything away again and driving all the way home, is just not worth it.

Now that I see the horrible weather that hit that area I'm kinda glad we stayed home.  So we will put a full weekend in next weekend and see how far we get.  Hopefully we will be able to get close enough to book our launch date.

I'M ANXIOUS TO GET THE BOAT INTO THE WATER, BUT NOT IN THE SNOW

ANOTHER BUSY WEEKEND COMING UP

This coming weekend is the May-long and normally we would be going out to the boat to work the whole four day weekend away, readying the boat for launch.

But this year the long weekend happens to be a little early and falls on my daughter Wendy's 50th Birthday and her husband and kids are throwing a big party for her, that we will be attending on Saturday night.

I guess we will try to get out to work on the boat on Sunday and Monday.  We don't have that much left to do and we do have one more weekend after that before we head out that door to the harbour.

THE TODO LISTS ARE GETTING SHORTER

I'VE HAD A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND.

On Friday morning my oldest son Jim, dropped a Mothers day card off for me and I packed up a cooler full of food for Dan and Ken and saw them off to the lake.  They are spending the weekend out at the hangar, working on the boat.

Then I went and did my weekly grocery shopping.  A chore I always hate.  But I got it over with, and everything was put away, then poured myself a drink and put my feet up and relaxed.

Then on Saturday, my oldest daughter Tracy Elizabeth, took me out to lunch.  We decided to make it fancy and got all dolled up and went to the Fort Garry Hotel for a lovely lunch that lasted for hours.  Then we came back here and talked well into the evening.

Then on Sunday, My youngest daughter Wendy and her husband Murray and my Grandson Dayne took me to the newly renovated Metropolitan Dinner Theatre for Brunch.  While there of course I was being hurled down memory lane and had to explain to them that the last time I was in that theater, I was part of the entertainment on stage.  Yes, I and my sister Lois and cousin Judy Lough and I think our friend Georgina McClelland were in that Song and Dance performance as well.  It was part of the "Good Deed Club" radio show.  We had auditioned down at the CBC Studios and made the cut, and performed live on that stage during the Saturday Morning Broadcast it was a great experience.  One I'll never forget.  And today we had great food there as as well as good memories.

After brunch I came home and put a pot roast in the oven for Sunday Dinner when Dan and Ken get home.  After all of this wonderful food I have been feasting on I certainly don't need another big meal, but I promised it to them in payment for all the work they did this weekend.

ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND!

WORK WEEKEND NUMBER TWO COMING UP

This coming "Work Weekend", number two, just happens to be Mother's Day weekend as well.

So, I will be staying home and pet sitting for Ken's cat, Minnie and looking after our Sea-Enna.

I will send Dan and Ken off to the boat, with the TODO list and a cooler full of food.

And I will stay home and have a restful weekend with the animals.

I have also been invited out for Mother's Day Sunday Brunch with my daughter and her husband.  After which I will cook a Sunday Dinner for the workers on their return.

HEY!   IT WORKS FOR ME

ONE BUSY WORK WEEKEND DONE

We arrived at the hangar on Friday and started to set up for our chores.  Unfortunately the boat was positioned badly when it was put away in the fall.

The only way we can get our staircase close enough for us to get aboard is to run it up to the port side door, which is not exactly convenient, but we will manage

Then it was time to bring in all the tools we will need for this weekends work.  Then go and get groceries for Friday Saturday and Sunday.  No sense driving all the way out here if we can't put in at least three days work. Ken was unable to work for us this weekend, so Dan and I were on our own.

I had a major clean-up to do in my fridge.  Somehow the door got closed when we left.  I always put a rolled up tea-towel in the door to keep it from closing, but somehow the towel got moved and the door got closed.  YUCK!! What a mess of mold.  That was chores # 1.  Lots of bleach and soap and hot water.

Dan got the hull scraped and prepped for the bottom paint that has to be put on before we launch.

I try to help where I can, but most of his stuff is beyond my abilities.  The only thing I can do is a lot of getting him this, and handing him that.

My main accomplishment this weekend was to cook and clean.  I won't work on sewing canvas until later in the process.

WELL, WE ARE OFF TO A GOOD START
