DOG LOVERS

One of the many things I like about our Marina is the fact that almost everyone is a dog lover. 

All of our pets just love coming to the beach and playing together.   

And this is the latest addition to the pets, the one on the left.  A 6 month old English Mastiff, it should be fun watching her grow up. 

  

SEA-ENNA GOES SWIMMING

Our puppy dog sure loves to swim.  We have a harness for her, which she seems to know, she must have on before she can go into the water.  We devised the harness, because once she is in the water, and has swum for a while we have to lift her out of the water and onto the swim platform.  That's what the harness is for.  But once she gets that harness on she starts running back and forth all excited, because she knows she is going to get to go swimming. 

For safety reasons, we have always trailed a floating rope out behind the boat when we stop for a swim.  (This allows us to be safe if the wind causes the boat to drift while we are in the water.)  Now this safety rope has a red float on the end of it and Sea-enna has decided that, that float is her ball and she has to retrieve it. 

Each time she gets in the water she swims out, retrieves the float and brings it back to us.  I guess she really is a "Retriever".  She is slowly growing into her breed characteristics.  Last year at age two, she discovered she loves the water.  This year at age three, she is finally taking to fetching. 

Now we have to come up with a solution.  I guess we could get a different colour float for our safety rope.  Because her "Cuck-it Ball",that she chases is the same red and she might think that it is her ball.  We also, want to make her a boarding ladder, because she is getting to be a very heavy dog to lift out of the water each time.  But that is going to have to wait until after our Anniversary Party. 

Now if I could only come up with a solution for, when she is tired and doesn't want to swim anymore.  When that happens, she jumps up off the swim platform and straight into the boat and shakes the water off and goes and lays down.  It's a good thing we have hardwood floors.  A quick swish around with a yacht mop and the floors are clean again.  But, I really must remember to keep the rear door closed so that she at least drip dries on the back deck for a while before going into the boat.  My kids all say I never would have put up with that from them.....  ; )

It is turning out to be a wonderful summer after all.  The impeller nightmares are over, we are cruising again and the weather is wonderful, who could ask for more.  The only thing I'm asking for is that everything goes smoothly for my Anniversary in two weeks. 

 

JUST ANOTHER DAY AT BCYC

Just another quiet day in Boundary Creek Yacht Club.  There are only five boats in the Marina that are occupied during the week right now.  No one is on holidays.  Most everyone else arrives throughout the weekends. 

It's time to sort out and put away the excess of Canada Day flags for next years Flotilla. 

Dan is busy cleaning the boat.  The exterior hasn't had a really good cleaning yet this year, so it's time to get rid of the grime and cob webs. 

Our focus must now switch to the plans for our 50th Wedding Anniversary, which is the next item on our event calendar. 

CELEBRATING CANADA DAY

Well, we all celebrated Canada Day, by decorating our boats with as many Canadian flags as we could manage. 

Then we cruised on out of the harbour.     And formed a Flotilla. 

Our Flotilla cruised along the beach front just outside the swim areas, blowing our horns in celebration of the Day. 

I think we will do this again next year.  Maybe adding a few things.  A few more boats, a few more flags and I know some of the boats have great loud speaker systems and we could play some really loud music.  We will look for some suggestions for any improvments for next year.  Thanks everyone for taking part. 

HANGING OUT AT THE MARINA

Everyone is just hanging out around the marina, enjoying the good weather. 

Sea-Enna, just loves the opportunity to just chase a ball and lounge around on the grass. 

 She also likes to play with her little friend Jessie

They roll around together and bite at each other, they seem to be oblivious to the difference in their sizes. 

 

All they know is they are just pals. 

So, that's another day at the beach. 

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN BOUNDARY CREEK YACHT CLUB

We are having another wonderful weekend in BCYC.  The geese that made it back this year have had their babies, and are all over the harbour. 

If we have to be stuck in harbour waiting for parts, it's not to hard to take.  We really live in a beautiful park. 

We have some small chores to do that will keep us busy and we have heard that our parts have been located and we should have our water pump ready for installation next weekend.  I'm not going to get my hopes up, because I don't like the disappointment, if it doesn't work out.  So, we'll just enjoy ourselves hanging out in the marina and hope for the best. 

THE RAIN CONTINUES, SO DOES THE CLEANING

It started raining overnight and continued all morning. 


So, what else is there to do, but continue with my cleaning. 


















Now the Pilot House is cleaned as well.  Venetian Blinds are cleaned, Walls are washed, Carpets Shampooed etc., etc., etc..

And now our new Captain's seat is finished and installed.  We still have to make the swivel back for it so that it can be used facing forward or backwards, but we will get to that next fall.  I think it matches the original woodwork very well.
