DANCING IS WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY

Including the New Year's Eve dance, that we thoroughly enjoyed, this is only our second time out dancing this year and I have missed that.  During his stay, Dwight didn't really want to go out dancing, so we stuck pretty close to home.

So last night we went to Pine to Palm with Lawrence and Diane to see and dance to one of our favorite bands, "The Agency."

This week, we have a number of things on our calendar.  Dan has his Monday burger night, then we are taking our turn at hosting our park's Wednesday Happy Hour.  I have to fit my Birthday celebration in this week as well.  My Birthday wish is for warmer weather.

THINGS ARE PICKING UP

DWIGHT IS OFF TO CALIFORNIA

Well last night was our last dinner together in Texas, as Dwight is off to California today.

We will busy ourselves around here until the end of March then we will see each other back in Manitoba in the Summer.

HAVE A SAFE TRIP AND ENJOY SPAIN AND IRELAND ETC.

DAN AND DWIGHT'S HAMBURGER NIGHT

Every Monday night in Paradise Park is Hamburger Dinner and Bingo.  This is Dan's second year of running the dinner part of this, for the park.  So of course when Dwight arrived, Dan roped him in as part of his crew.

The rest of the Hamburger Night crew consists of Tony Callum, Mary Lewis and Diane and Bob Libert.

Then there is Sherman Stairs and Mary Owen to round out the crew.

It keeps the Thacker boys busy and out of trouble all day Monday, as they go around and do the shopping and get things ready for the evening meal.  Then go back around 3:00 and start cooking.

This Monday, January 5th, being Dan's Birthday, the crew bought him a cake and invited me over before dinner to sing Happy Birthday with them.

IT WAS VERY NICE

PUTTING AWAY CHRISTMAS

Well we are into the New Year and that means it's time to put away our Christmas Decorations.

Today is the only day forecast for no rain, so we better take advantage of it.  We have had nothing but rain and cold since that nice day Sharon had for Boxing Day.

So everything is packed up and stowed away, now we just need some spring like weather.  I am sick of this rain.

This next week is not looking too promising either.
But it's bound to break soon.  I want to be outdoors, I want to be in the pool, etc. etc. etc.

COME ON SUNSHINE

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015

Well, we ushered in the New Year, with a great party here at Paradise Park.

We were well entertained by "The Coins", who just happen to be residents in our park.

We saw the old year 2014, ushered out.

And the new year 2015 ushered in.

Then the NEW YEAR ceremoniously kicked last year to the curb.  lol

It was quite a celebration.

All in all it was a great party.  Good Music, great food, lots of dancing and a lot of  FUN.

AND THAT'S WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TEXAS!!

BOXING DAY IN SIESTA VILLAGE.

Our boating friends Sharon and Casey have an annual Boxing day party at their place in Weslaco each year.  On Friday we went to that Boxing day party.  Always great fun.

Sharon finally hit the jackpot weather wise.  Usually we have to dress very warmly for this party, as it is outdoors and January 26th is not known for it's tropical temperatures.

These two weeks around Christmas and New Years the weather, in this area, usually bottoms out to the lowest it gets for the year.  But this year's high for the day was 80F/27C.  No one can complain about that.

SO NOW IT'S ON TO NEW YEARS EVE

CHRISTMAS IN PARADISE PARK

Paradise Park has a lovely Christmas Dinner for all of the Residents.  You buy your ticket and put your name down for a particular table.  The ticket pays for turkey, stuffing and gravy.  Then you communicate with the others at your table to decide what else each of you will contribute to the dinner in a "Pot Luck" sorta way.

We go over to the hall in the morning with our place settings, and set up our tables, then we arrive for the meal around 11:00 am, to mingle and greet everyone and wish them Merry Christmas.  The dinner is served at noon.

We  are usually back home around 2:00, to rest up for the second sitting of left overs at around 6:00 .  Mmmmmm, Turkey sandwiches and Deserts.
