DANCING TO THE CLASSICS

Last night we went out dancing to a group called "The Classics".  I had heard a few nice things about them and their 50s, 60s, 70s music.  It turns out that one of the members is from our park.

So, we got our little group together.  Consisting of :  Lois and Larry

Ed and Hazel

And Dan and I, and off we went.

It was a good crowd and good music and a good time was had by all.

ORANGE BLOSSOMS

The last couple of months I have been very entertained by the humming birds outside my dinette window.  But, that time has passed.  I guess the humming birds were in their winter home, or were migrating on their way north.  Either way they are no longer around.

Now all of the Orange trees are starting to bloom.  Each day more and more blossoms show up on the trees that are on all the RV lots.  It is a very pleasant fragrance on those rare calm, still nights, which we don't get very often here in Texas.

But, we are always thankful for those breezes as March starts to get hotter and hotter and finally drives us all northward.

ONE MORE MONTH IN TEXAS

March is here and that means we are into the countdown to locking up and heading home.

Dan has only one more night of cooking burgers for our Park's Burger Nights.

I have only one more newspaper to produce.

We have our big annual St. Patrick's Day Party to plan and look forward to.

We have a project (closing in a storage area under the front overhang of the trailer, for my trike), that we have been talking about, but we don't know if we will get to that this year.

Maybe after Dan is finished with his Burger Nights?.

THE COUNTDOWN IS BEGINING

ANOTHER DANCE, ANOTHER GREAT TIME

We had another Park Dance this past weekend.  There was a good turnout and everyone that showed up had a good time.

The Musicians, "Chuck and Earl"  really got the crowd going pretty well.  But they disappointed me in the end.  The last 20 minutes, They decided to start showing off their Guitar and Drum techniques and everyone had to stop dancing, because you couldn't really dance to that.  I felt like going and telling them that they were hired for a dance, not a rock concert.   But, all in all it was a good night.

THEY'RE BACK.......!    The Party Girls of South Padre Island are back and continued their partying at out Dance.

I FINALLY GAVE IN TO AIR CONDITIONING

I hate air conditioning.  I always feel like, If I wanted to stay indoors with the doors and windows all closed I might as well have stayed up north with the furnace on.

But the other day, we knew it was going to get pretty hot, so I agreed to have it on.  Well, the whole time it was on, it cooled us down, but the fan was making a slight squeaking noise, so Dan has decided it needs work.  Now Dan ordered a new blower motor (overnight express) for our air conditioner.  The weather here in Texas is just going to get hotter and hotter, from now until we head home, so I guess it's necessary.

So, yesterday Dan and Larry installed the new blower motor and the A/C is working like a charm.  I'm sure I will be glad of it in the next few weeks.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP LARRY

WELL, I MADE A SILLY MISTAKE

(Sorry, no photos to go with this story.)

When you are coming down here for almost 6 months, the lists that are made are endless.  What to pack?   What are the foods you can't get down here?  Is the computer cleaned up, updated and packed?  I thought we were set and everything has been going very well, that is until Friday.

On Friday we went to do some shopping at Walmart, and my bank ATM card was rejected.  Dan had to pay for my purchases.  (out of the same account I might add?)  So of course I was muttering @#$%&* stupid Walmart. I still had grocery shopping to do, so off we went to H.E.B.  I filled my cart and proceeded to the check out, only to have my bank card rejected again.  Dan again had to pay for my purchases.  So, this time I'm muttering @#$%&* stupid bank.  Now, after putting all the groceries away I got on the phone to my bank.

After a lengthy call, the girl I was speaking to could find no problem with my account and said she would have to forward my information to IT and they would call me back.  So there I sat, staring at my bank card wondering what could be wrong, when I suddenly noticed the expiry date on my card was 02/16.  dah!

If we were at home, my new card would have arrived in the mail and that would have been the first I realized that the expiry date was approaching.  But, being down in Texas, my new bank card is sitting in a huge pile of mail accumulating on my dining room table and I was not triggered to look at the approaching expiry.

Oh well, no real harm done, I have called my daughter (who has a key to our condo and  takes care of that accumulating mail) and she is going to mail my new card down to me.  I'm just glad I was able to catch her at home before she leaves on her own winter holiday.

When I get home I think I will see if we can't have the expiry dates on all out cards changed to the summer months, when we are in Canada so that this does not occur again.

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!

Oh, my gosh!  I made this blog 5 days ago, then forgot to post it.  Just discovered it now, when I am about to think about another blog.  Oh well, better late than never.  Hope you had a good one.  I did.
