NOW IT'S ON TO PREPPING THE BOAT FOR LAUNCH

The weather has improved, so it's time to get at it.

Our daughter has agreed to look after Sea-Enna for us, so this weekend will be a work weekend at the boat.

Dan and Ken will be repairing, filling, sanding and painting.

I, on the other hand will be concentrating on sorting out the boat and putting things away.  I still have to finish that dinghy cover, once and for all.  This project has been plagueing me for a couple of years.  Plus I have plans for a new windshield cover that I have to work on as well.

Plus I have to keep the workers fed.  So I will prep some stuff at home, then cook on the boat while we're out there.

WE ALL HAVE OUR WORK CUT OUT FOR US

A MISERABLE RAINY WEEKEND

I guess nothing much is being accomplished this weekend, except me working on our taxes.

Not exactly exciting or interesting, so I'm inclined to avoid them, until I have nothing else to do.  But a necessity, so I keep them sitting on my desk staring me in the face.

It's a miserable day, not a soul on the streets, the kind of weather that makes you feel like curling up in bed with a good book or good movie. I think I'll scroll through Netflix for something later, but meanwhile I better do a little entering on these taxes.

THEY'RE NOT GOING TO FILE THEMSELVES

I JUST RECEIVED A JURY DUTY NOTIFICATION

HMM..... Jury Duty

This is something I have always said I would like to do.  Not only do I believe it is our civic duty, I have always thought it would be an interesting experience.

Now I have only three hopes or wishes going into this:

1. that I get accepted as a juror

2. that it is an interesting trial.

3. that the trial doesn't last too long.

I will certainly be blogging about this once it occurs on May 26th.  I hope it doesn't drag into my summer on the boat.

THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING

A VISIT TO THE BOAT

We went out to the beach yesterday for our first visit since arriving back from Texas.  It was still frozen in at the marina, so we ventured on to the hangars.

Everything is, as we left it in the fall.  No elves had crept in and done all the work for us.  lol

This was just a quick trip to deliver back to the boat, the borrowed items that we take to Texas.  Simple things that we don't often need, so don't want to have two of, like a craft kit, a sewing kit and a first aid kit.

Plus we got an excellent price on the paint we are going use for our boat's super structure.  So that is a major item on our work list this spring.  All the white is going to be repaired, sanded and painted this year.  Plus the bottom paint is going to be re-done.

It was very cold out there yesterday, but the weather is supposed to break next week.  Hopefully we will be able to get started next weekend.

To my calculations there are only about 7 more weeks until the end of May, when we usually launch, so the clock is ticking.

TIME TO GET AT IT

GETTING MORE COMFORTABLE AT HOME

We are finally feeling more at home,

It took a couple of trips to the stores to finally get everything I needed for the fridge, freezer and cupboards.

Sea-Enna is certainly settled in now that we are home.

We now have everything out of the truck, although It's not all put away.  Some of the items we have brought from Texas, are things we use on the boat as well as in Texas.  So those double duty items have to be re-packed and taken out to the boat once we start going out there every weekend to work.

We are going to venture out to the hangars in Gimli this Saturday, to deliver these items and make what arrangements we can for the spring work plans. And maybe we will get a chance to catch up with old friends and possibly meet the new Marina owners.

ONE STEP CLOSER TO BOATING SEASON

SETTLING IN AT HOME

We have been home for 2 days and I am still feeling a little disoriented.

My computer programs are all different on this computer.  YUCK!

I can hardly find anything in my kitchen.

Our 2nd TV in the bedroom is not working, as the Condo Corp. dropped the basic cable in the building, so now we have to arrange for cable for that TV as well.

And joy of joys I have my taxes staring me in the face.

ALL IN ALL I FEEL A LITTLE LOST

CROSSING THE BORDER, THEN HOME SWEET HOME

Each year, no matter how long you have been down south and how little you have purchased, as you approach the border, you are silently saying to yourself, "Please, Please, Please, just wave me through.

I always save all the receipts for all of my purchases and list them on a declaration form I have created, with receipts attached.  And since I have been doing that I have never been Questioned, Searched, or Held Up, in any way.  They always just hand me back my paper work and say, "Have a nice day."  (They don't like to deal with paper work.)

And with the Canadian dollar being what it has been this past winter, I certainly have not spent anything myself, but others have.  Canadian Friends and Family (that stayed home and saved their money) have requested that I bring things back for them.  LOL

So, I still had to make out a detailed declaration statement , and will still be saying, as I approach the border, "Please, Please, Please, don't hassle me."

IT WILL BE GOOD TO BE HOME
