MY ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTY

St. Patrick's Day has come and gone for another year.
My annual party went very well.
We had a great turn out and a lot of fun.
We couldn't have asked for better weather. In fact a little more shade would have been a relief in mid afternoon.
The "Irish Car Bombs" proved popular again this year.
Thanks again to everyone that brought snacks.

So that was it for this year.

THE 4TH ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S PARTY IS COMING UP NEXT YEAR, SAME TIME SAME PLACE.  HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE.

PARADISE PARK ST.PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

These are a few pictures that I took of our park's annual Golf Cart, St. Patrick's Day Parade.

AFTER SEEING ALL THE DOGS IN THE PARADE I THINK WE WILL ENTER SEA-ENNA NEXT YEAR.

BEER & BRATS PARK FAIR

Today was the parks Annual Beer & Brats Fair.  A bratwurst on a bun (with or without sauerkraut), a bag of chips and a beer combo is the menu du jour.

It's one of the parks real fun activities, a chance to mingle and a fund raiser for the park.

There were all kinds of games and fun to get involved in.  From silly bean bag toss, to serious shuffle board.

There was even a dunk tank, which of course was one of the most popular money makers of the day.  Everyone is always willing to part with some money to see someone hit the water.

SO THAT WAS OUR PARK FAIR .

ONE LAST DAY TRIP TO MEXICO

Well, Dan and I are both sick again.  So we decided to take a quick run down to Mexico, to pick up some Medications.

It's about a twenty minute drive from our place to the Mexican border.

We park our truck on the American side of the border

We pay our 50 cents and walk across the bridge
Over the Rio Grande River and into Mexico.
Amid the kayos and carnival atmosphere that are the streets of Progresso, we weave our way.
There are hundreds of pharmacies etc.  within the first few blocks of the town.  We quickly find our favorite pharmacy and purchase our Medications at about one tenth of what we would pay in the USA.
Then we make the long walk back across the bridge, through the US customs, then the quick drive home.

SO THAT'S WAS OUR LAST TRIP DOWN TO MEXICO FOR THIS YEAR.

PELICANS IN TEXAS vs.PELICANS IN MANITOBA.

I have always loved Pelicans.  They are the only birds that seem to fly for the sheer joy of it.  They are fish eaters and have no reason to fly out over the land.  Yet during the day, at the lake, they will fly out over the land and soar on the air currants for hours.  Their flight is so graceful.  With a few flaps of their wings they soar in circles, with no particular destination that is obvious.  It is a joy to watch.

Well, we have Pelicans down here in Texas, but somehow they are just not the same.  If you see them from a distance in flight you think that it is the same bird, and that it's just in shadow.  Then you see them up close and they look like they are all dirty.

They are Brown Pelicans, and they have different appearances depending on whether they are young or adult, male or female, breeding or non-breeding.  All of these looks I find rather drab.  Especially compared to the gorgeous swan like look of the White Pelican at left that we are used to back home.
Apparently they have some White Pelicans here in Texas, but I've never seen one.  Only the drab looking Brown ones.    So I will look forward to seeing my favorite graceful bird when I get back to Manitoba.

I was just reminded of an old poem.:

A wonderful bird is the pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week!
But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican?

Thanks Dave.

SEA-ENNA'S NEW TOY

This is a short picture story of Sea-Enna, with one of those crazy ball toys with a battery in it.

It didn't take long until she didn't trust it at all, and wouldn't even go near it again.

OH WELL, WE'VE WASTED MONEY ON WORSE THINGS IN OUR LIVES.  AND WE DID GET A FEW LAUGHS OUT OF IT.

THE FLEA MARKET

You gotta love the Flea Markets.

You want some concrete statuary, get it at the Flea Market.
This one is only open Saturdays and Sundays and Wednesdays. So, we only go on Wednesdays, because the weekend is far too busy, it's bad enough on Wednesday.

The ceramics are colourful and plentiful at the Flea Market

Very intense colours, they certainly give you the Tex Mex flavour, in this area of the Flea Market.

You can get anything you can think of at the Flea Market.

There are fresh fruits and vegetables at the Flea Market.

The outdoor stalls are an array of different collectibles, antiques, and unique finds.  Some of it just junk.  I think some these people spend April through October, like the pickers on TV, travelling around, finding stuff to sell at the Flea Market.

If you want some used golf clubs, you can get them at the Fleas Market.
Some of the indoor stalls have all new stuff at the Flea Market

If there is something that you are looking for and can't find it anywhere else.  Try the Flea Market.

THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO SPEND A DAY HERE IN THE VALLEY.
