I'VE HAD A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND.

On Friday morning my oldest son Jim, dropped a Mothers day card off for me and I packed up a cooler full of food for Dan and Ken and saw them off to the lake.  They are spending the weekend out at the hangar, working on the boat.

Then I went and did my weekly grocery shopping.  A chore I always hate.  But I got it over with, and everything was put away, then poured myself a drink and put my feet up and relaxed.

Then on Saturday, my oldest daughter Tracy Elizabeth, took me out to lunch.  We decided to make it fancy and got all dolled up and went to the Fort Garry Hotel for a lovely lunch that lasted for hours.  Then we came back here and talked well into the evening.

Then on Sunday, My youngest daughter Wendy and her husband Murray and my Grandson Dayne took me to the newly renovated Metropolitan Dinner Theatre for Brunch.  While there of course I was being hurled down memory lane and had to explain to them that the last time I was in that theater, I was part of the entertainment on stage.  Yes, I and my sister Lois and cousin Judy Lough and I think our friend Georgina McClelland were in that Song and Dance performance as well.  It was part of the "Good Deed Club" radio show.  We had auditioned down at the CBC Studios and made the cut, and performed live on that stage during the Saturday Morning Broadcast it was a great experience.  One I'll never forget.  And today we had great food there as as well as good memories.

After brunch I came home and put a pot roast in the oven for Sunday Dinner when Dan and Ken get home.  After all of this wonderful food I have been feasting on I certainly don't need another big meal, but I promised it to them in payment for all the work they did this weekend.

ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND!

WORK WEEKEND NUMBER TWO COMING UP

This coming "Work Weekend", number two, just happens to be Mother's Day weekend as well.

So, I will be staying home and pet sitting for Ken's cat, Minnie and looking after our Sea-Enna.

I will send Dan and Ken off to the boat, with the TODO list and a cooler full of food.

And I will stay home and have a restful weekend with the animals.

I have also been invited out for Mother's Day Sunday Brunch with my daughter and her husband.  After which I will cook a Sunday Dinner for the workers on their return.

HEY!   IT WORKS FOR ME

ONE BUSY WORK WEEKEND DONE

We arrived at the hangar on Friday and started to set up for our chores.  Unfortunately the boat was positioned badly when it was put away in the fall.

The only way we can get our staircase close enough for us to get aboard is to run it up to the port side door, which is not exactly convenient, but we will manage

Then it was time to bring in all the tools we will need for this weekends work.  Then go and get groceries for Friday Saturday and Sunday.  No sense driving all the way out here if we can't put in at least three days work. Ken was unable to work for us this weekend, so Dan and I were on our own.

I had a major clean-up to do in my fridge.  Somehow the door got closed when we left.  I always put a rolled up tea-towel in the door to keep it from closing, but somehow the towel got moved and the door got closed.  YUCK!! What a mess of mold.  That was chores # 1.  Lots of bleach and soap and hot water.

Dan got the hull scraped and prepped for the bottom paint that has to be put on before we launch.

I try to help where I can, but most of his stuff is beyond my abilities.  The only thing I can do is a lot of getting him this, and handing him that.

My main accomplishment this weekend was to cook and clean.  I won't work on sewing canvas until later in the process.

WELL, WE ARE OFF TO A GOOD START

THIS FRIDAY WILL BEGIN THE FIRST WORK WEEKEND AT THE HANGAR.

As we would like to launch in early June, it is time to get on with those TODO lists.

We have 5 weekends in May to work on the boat, but we have  a lot to accomplish in those 5 weekends.  Because of the time constraints, I am going to delay my new pilot house carpet installation until we are in harbour.

We will concentrate instead on exterior chores, and those that can't be delayed, like sanding and painting and mechanicals.

We have enough of those each year to keep us busy.

SO OFF WE GO

TIME FOR SEA-ENNA'S SPRING BATH

Today it was time for Sea-Enna to have her spring time bath.  I know a lot of dogs don't really like to have a bath, but Sea-Enna loves it.

In fact this time she heard us talking about a bath and she stepped right into the tub as soon as we turned the water on.

"HEY, THIS ISN'T ENOUGH WATER FOR ME TO SWIM IN."

A quick lather up with shampoo.

Then a thorough rinse off.

" I FEEL PRETTY, OH SO PRETTY."

This year Sea-Enna is going to get a complete trim job, once the weather warms up for good and before she starts going swimming all the time.  She will dry so much faster, with a summer trim.

A VISIT TO THE HANGAR TO UNLOAD THE TRUCK

It is time to make our todo lists and to decide on what we will accomplish this spring before Thunderbird goes in the water.

We know for sure, that bottom paint that we brought home from Texas is on the list.

Dan says he has some repairs and painting to do around the windshield and on the bow before we splash.

I would like to finally do new carpet in the Pilot house.  I always said that I wouldn't do that until all of the mechanical work on the engine was finished, and that has been finished for a couple of years now so I guess it's time for my new carpet.

I also need to finish my dinghy cover, that has been half finished for a couple of years.

I GUESS THAT'S ENOUGH OF A LIST FOR THIS YEAR
