DAISY HAS A BATH!

So now, until I resolve my issues on this stupid computer purchase, I will muddle through with my good old Acer, which is still serving me, if not well, at least serving me.    .

Yesterday, because it was so hot, Dan decided to purchase a "Kiddy Pool".  I have often said that in the hot weather Sea-enna would love a pool to cool off in.  "As she loves, so much,  to swim off the boat in the heat of the summer.  Well, last week, Dan saw some kiddy pools on sale and brought one home.  No mater what we did, we could not convince Sea-Enna to go into it, but it didn't take long for Elizabeth to convince Daisy to get in there and have a bath.

Once in, out came the Dawn dish soap, some cream rinse

And of course some hugs.  Talk about a spa treatment.

I am sure Sea-Enna was wondering why she rejected this spa treatment.

All in all the Kiddy Pool was a good investment.

THAT KIDDY POOL IS LOOKING MORE INVITING ALL THE TIME.

I BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP

I am so sorry, I must apologize to all my regular followers, but I have been having computer problems.  And that is why my postings to this blog have been so sporadic.  I have been using my Acer laptop since I bought it back in 2008, just prior to starting this blog.  I must say it has served me well.  Once we were retired and living aboard "Thunderbird", full time in the summer, I quickly learned I needed a portable computer for use on board.  By then we were also talking about buying a trailer and travelling south in the winter, so at that point we decided that a laptop was essential.  I had all Dell equipment at home in the condo and was quite satisfied and looking to buy a Dell laptop, when I stumbled across my Acer laptop, offering everything I was looking for, at Costco and it was on sale for a good price.   Of course being the bargain hunter I am, I purchased it and have been very satisfied with it for all these years.  But 12 years is a looong lifetime for a computer.

At this point I have already updated my desktop computer to, an HP with Windows 10 a year or so ago, and that has worked out very well.  So now that it is time for a laptop update I have purchased an HP laptop with Windows 10.  That should make the switching back and forth from desktop to laptop that much simpler.  (And keep the learning curve to a minimum, as I am always afraid of the dreaded "Learning Curve".)

So, I bought a HP laptop on line, which because we had already headed down to Texas, finally arrived with my daughter after a long journey from Toronto to Winnipeg, then with her down to McAllen,Texas.  I prepared myself for the dreaded learning curve and delved in.  Only to find there was "A PROBLEM".   I contacted tech support and I had to ship my new computer back to them and they were to fix it and ship it back to meWhich of course took two weeks, so when I received it back last week, I did not want to get involved with the learning curve until I finished my latest edition of the Paradise Park Press.  So now that that has been completed I turned back my new computer again and guess what?  It was doing the same thing.  I then talked to tech support again and I had to ship my computer back to them again and they, knowing I was getting fed up, vowed they were going to ship me,  a brand new one.  Guess what??? The new computer arrived and it was working fine.  I was whizzing along installing my email apps and contacts, installing my blog programs, etc., etc., etc..     Then I walked away from my computer to make dinner and got busy and never went back to it until the next morning and there it was stuck with the same problem the original computer gave me.

THAT'S IT I'm out, I can not deal with this crap anymore.    So I just sent the seller a message saying that I want a refund and they can stick their computer "where the sun don't shine", (not in those exact words of course) but I'm done.

"GRRRRR"

I HATE THIS CRAP!!!!!!

A VISIT TO MEXICO

The other day we took a little day trip down to Mexico.

We always park our vehicle on the American side of the border and walk across the Rio Grande Bridge to the small border town of Progresso.  Just south of Weslaco, Texas.

Elizabeth had her obligatory picture taken in front for the Mexican/American Statue.

We did some browsing and a bit of shopping and I picked up my glasses that I had ordered last week.

Then we stopped in at the Ground Zero Bar for some Margaritas.

And were entertained by the Mariachi Band.

Then we walked back across the bridge back to the American side.  As we were walking we talked about the fact that a number of the extended Thacker family were in Mexico that day.  Brenda and Gary were in Los Cabos, Jim and Rachelle and Alex and Matthew were in Playa Del Carmen, and here we were Linda and Dan and Elizabeth in Progresso.

CANADA DAY IN PARADISE PARK

Every year in mid February, all of us Canadians here in Paradise Park, get together for a Pot Luck dinner.  This year of course was no exception.

Dan and I being host and hostess this year, were a little concerned that everything would go all right.  Which of course it did, it always does.

Everyone pitches in to help out in any way they can.  People showed up with lots of wonderful food.  We socialized  around a game, for a while, then sat down to a delicious and abundant meal.

A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL

SAN ANTONIO RIVER WALK

Our company arrived late Tuesday after a long day's drive all the way from Oklahoma City, with a slight accidental detour though Laredo.

Wednesday was spent relaxing, socializing, pool time, topped off with a nice patio Bar-B-Q dinner.  Then Thursday, was more relaxing and pool time, then they ventured out on a disappointing personal quest, which was followed by another nice patio dinner and before you knew it we were planning our trip north to San Antonio for the next day.

Friday morning we were packed up and off to San Antonio for Gary to hop a plane back to Winnipeg.  He just came to accompany Tracy Elizabeth on her Journey to our little winter home.  He only had a weeks holiday so we decided to accompany him back to San Antonio and DO the River Walk together before his departure.

Friday we are off to San Antonio and the River Walk.
We got checked into our Motel, then walked the River Walk for a couple of hours.

Then we stopped for a lovely dinner to end the evening.

Then 5:30 am the next morning we were up and at it to drop Gary at the airport by 6:00 am and tackled the 31/2 hour drive back to Paradise Park.

IT HAS BEEN A HECTIC  FEW DAYS.

WHAT"S BEEN GOING ON?

When last I posted to my blog, Dan was working on the foundation of Dwight's trailer and it was coming along great.

Then, it was my birthday and we were going out dancing right?  That is what we did!  We went out dancing to one of our favourite bands.  "The Agency".  And had a great time.

The next morning I woke up with a bit of a scratchy throat, but thought it was just acid reflux, which I sometimes suffer from.  So, I ignored it.  The following morning I knew I was wrong, it was "The Texas Crud", as my throat was worse and I was coughing and coughing.  Time to start a Z-Pack.  (The goto cure for the Crud.) Two days later, Dan was down as well and starting his own Z-Pack.  So, that began a whole week of us being as sick as dogs.  Although Sea-Enna (the dog) breezed through it.  Other than not getting out for her walks as often as she would like.

While we were laid up we had a vicious wind storm, that blew a lot of leaves off of our fruit trees.and knocked a lot of the fruit to the ground.

Sick or not, that was a mess that had to be cleaned up.

Once we were on the mend we got to go out to a show dance at our park hall.

So now that we are feeling better, it is time for me to get on with next months Newspaper.  My cut off for printing it is 25th.  Then I can relax until next month.

TIME TO GET BACK TO NORMAL.
