STUMP GRINDING

It is one thing to cut down a number of trees that are in your way.  It's another thing all together to dispose of the stumps.

Dan spent all day Sunday, off and on working on one stump.  Chopping and digging at it.  At the end of the day the stump was still there , although a little smaller and more exposed, and hacked up and he was exhausted.  Plus he was certainly aching on Monday.  So today, we hired Forest Stump Tree Service.

He arrived with his fantastic machine and Zip-Zip-Zap three stumps in our potential driveway were gone.

Then Grind Grind Grind in the front yard and two huge stumps there were gone.

There was nothing left but a bunch of mulch, which should come in handy with future landscaping.

We can even park the truck in the potential driveway, even though we haven't even ordered our gravel yet.

One step at a time.

NEXT STEP, GRAVEL!

MORE YARD WORK IS DONE.

Well I did some research on Hummingbird Feeders and the recommendation was that you should have three and one of them should be out of sight of the other two.  ?????  But I decided to follow that advise anyways.

My seed feeder is full and hung up as well.

Yesterday  we also cut down a few trees that we needed removed so we can make a second parking space next to the garage.

Now we have a number of stumps to be dealt with before we order our gravel.

We sure are making use of our fire pit.  We have had it lit almost every afternoon since we started the yard clean-up.

I'm kinda thinking of getting one of these fire pit kits, that are available at the hardware store. but I don't quite know if it will be big enough.  I guess I'll have to take some measurements.

I'LL PUT THAT ON MY LIST ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE.

YARD WORK

Sea-Enna sure loves her new yard.  She chases her ball and lays in the sun at her leisure.  Although it was not fenced it is surrounded by bush and gives us plenty of privacy.

But we always had to be out there with her, as just beyond our bush is #9 highway.  And with her fascination with Squirrels we were always worried that she would decide to chase one through the bush and be out on the road before we could stop her.

So today's chore was to weave chicken wire through the bush, so that she can not get through to the highway.

So we wove chicken wire in and around the trees stapling it to trees here and there as we went.

We wove it through all the way along the highway side of our yard.

Once in place you can hardly see it and it should disappear completely once the bush leafs out.

While doing this job we realized we have a lot of dead fall in that bush that needs to be cleaned up so the young saplings can grow up and take over.

Sea-Enna was quite fascinated by, and loved the fact, that we were all out in her yard together all day.

I also managed to put up a few Dollar Store bird houses.

I don't know if the birds will inhabit them, but they are quite cute.

I have a little bird feeder, but I need to buy some bird seed for it.  Then I also need some humming bird feeders and a little bird bath.  Then I will be able to enjoy our yard as much as Sea-Enna does.

Sea-Enna thinks.....

IT WAS A GREAT DAY AT THE BEACH!

SETTLING IN

We finally got a warm day today, so we were out and about around the beach.  Shopping and errands.  I'm determined to enjoy this beautiful day and be outdoors as much as possible, because they are predicting lousy weather for the rest of the weekend.

We went down to the waterfront and all the construction that was going on when we left last fall seems to be all completed now and they did a very nice job of it as well.

The lake is almost completely free of ice now

With no leaves on the trees, you can see the replica lighthouse that the volunteers built for the Beach Centennial. They really need to keep those trees cleared back.  It's nice to be able to see it all the way from the beachfront.

We did a pass through the harbour and of course it is no longer empty.  The official opening of the harbour has occurred.  "Glenn's Boat is Launched."

Sea-Enna is settling in nicely to this idea of having her own yard.  Chasing balls, and finding random sticks to chew on is really keeping her happy.

I rather enjoyed this warm sunny day as well.  Sea-Enna and I sat out enjoying the day until the sun started to dip below the trees.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A LOT MORE OF THIS.

UPDATE

OK!, I know. the pictures are not showing in my blog.  They show up on the computer that I created the blog on, but when I looked at it on my laptop the pictures are not there. They are pictures that Tracy Elizabeth took on her iphone and emailed to me, so I'm looking into what I can do about it. But meanwhile I thought I better let everyone know I am aware of the problem.

I will re-post when and if I find a solution.
Thanks

THE JOURNEY HOME

We took our time coming home this year as it was the first time our daughter Elizabeth had ever driven on a long journey like that.  Our trip consisted of McAllen to Round Rock, just north of Austin the first day.  Day 2 was on to Oklahoma City.  Day 3 we made Council Bluffs and Day 4 we were in Grand Forks.  That made our last jaunt, the next day, an easy one to the border and home, as we had a lot of running around and errands to do before we got home.

We took our time and went out for dinner in fancy restaurants each night.  It made it a long but pleasant trip home.

We really enjoyed ourselves.

It's a good thing we enjoyed that, because it was not a  pleasant home coming for us when we arrived at the beach house.

WE ARRIVED HOME TO A BROKEN WATER PUMP AND A FROZEN WELL.
