RENO PROGRESS

Well, the utility closet is built with the shelving I wanted.  It just needs the doors installed.  

The last of the new wall panelling has been installed, and I have finished painting it all.  

I still need a finish coat  of varnish on my cupboards. 

I called to find out, "Where are my counter tops?" (they originally said 2 to 3 weeks and it has now been over 4 weeks)  and they told me they will be there by the weekend, so I guess we can busy ourselves with other  little chores until then.  

We have some moldings to install, and I still haven't finished my bathroom ceiling. Then the Power and Water can be transferred over to the new kitchen.  

THEN I CAN MOVE IN 

(And we can gut the old kitchen)

    

CRUISING AND SWIMMING

Today we finally took some time off, to take the boat out on the lake. 

We had family come out for a cruise and a swim. 

Once out of the harbour, Dan put Chris in charge of the helm. 

We cruised to the south end of the lake and stopped for a swim just off of Matlock.  

After holding their breath Chris and Wil took the plunge and once in they said the water was fine.  

Dan and Scott and Randy had a good visit.

 

Will took a break from swimming, then went right back at it, so I guess the water wasn't that cold.  

The boys told us not to bother with the motor, they could pull us in to shore.  And they actually did move the boat a little. 

Then Chris piloted us back to the harbour.  

ALL IN ALL A GOOD DAY ON THE LAKE

GORD AND ELLIE GOWIE'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

We missed out on this years Boundary Creek Marina annual Corn Roast, as it was our friends Gord and Ellie's 50th Wedding Anniversary.  

 The patio and yard was beautifully decorated to suit the occasion.  

 Just awaiting the guests arrival. 

 The Gold and Yellow theme was beautiful and appropriate.  

 Gord was showing the youngsters the commemorative 50th Anniversary engraved plaque he had made for their mutual 50th Anniversary gift to one another.    

 
"We're still having fun, and your still the one."   

 There was a great turn out and great food was enjoyed by all.

 And once the cake was cut and dessert was served, the party continued, well into the night.

THE VIKING STATUE IN GIMLI

When we went to Gimli for groceries this weekend, we also went in search of where they moved the Viking statue to.  

This statue has been a fixture in Gimli for many many years and we had heard it was moved and we wondered where they had moved it to. 

It commemorates the heritage of the original founders of the town.  I think it is as much a part of Gimli as all the boats in the harbour.

It is still situated on an elevated area as it was in the past, but now it is surrounded by paths and gardens.  

It also has commemorative benches to sit and view the lake.  

It is adjacent to the walking path that runs along the water front to the harbour and the beach beyond.

Plus walk right up for those photo ops. 

VERY NICELY DONE.  

MORE PROGRESS ON MY KITCHEN

Almost all my cabinets have been installed.  

Just one more still to be installed.  A closet near the back door. 

Now all I have to do is decide on and order the counter tops.  

THEN THE WAITING WILL BEGIN ALL OVER AGAIN.  

WE ARE FINALLY MAKING PROGRESS ON MY NEW KITCHEN

We have framed in  our utility closet.  

I have pre-painted the wall where the first of the cabinets are going

Dan has installed my pantry.

It's beginning to look like a real kitchen.  

WE MAY GET THIS FINISHED THIS YEAR AFTER ALL.  

PIZZA NIGHT AT BOUNDARY CREEK YACHT CLUB

We had a fun Saturday Night at the BCYC Marina last night.  It was a "Pizza Night".  Now this is new to our marina and I have never attended one of these before, but it was really neat.  

 

The marina supplied the dough, the sauce and pleanty of cheese.  Each couple was instructed to bring two of your favourite toppings.  Then you proceed to build your own pizza, as you like it and hand it in to the chef, Randy Swanson. 

 

Who then puts it in the oven for you and lets you know when it's done.  He was certainly run off his feet, with this croud.  

A JOB WELL DONE. RANDY! BRAVO!

There was a wonderful turnout for this event.  The clubhouse and both decks were full of our boaters.   

 The pizzas got a little backed up from time to time, but nobody minded, the wait.  It was just a good excuse to have a few drinks and socialize and catch up with all our marina friends.  

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND LOOK FORWARD TO MORE OF THE SAME.
